Fair Verona Necklace

Watermelon Tourmaline briollettes and large white freshwater pearls float along five sweet strands that neatly frame the neck. 14k gold filled chain finishes this classy gem of a necklace ending with a dainty pearl dangle and a vermeil hook and eye clasp. This is a limited edition piece and only 2 will be made in this color scheme. I've been really busy these last two weeks so I haven't had much time to update the site and blog, apologies. Although new pieces are not featured on the site and blog as often as I would like, many, many , many are being created each day so come to our next public show at the Baltimore Harbor East Music Festival on Aug. 25 2007 to view the full collection!

New bracelets designs! This seasons must have accessory is the bracelet, and not just any bracelet. From the runways to the Oscars, bracelets have made a bold statement. The trend in wrist wear is big, chunky, and layered. Look for thick cuffs, loaded charm bracelets, and multi-strand bracelets. Here is just a sample of some of my newest limited edition designs that will be sold at my next few shows. This Summer and Fall the colors and materials will be softer with an emphasis on earth tones with natural shell, rock, and riverstone components. These bracelets will be sold only at my live shows and not online. If you are interested in anything featured in the blog please e-mail me at AppusDesign87@yahoo.com!

After the Show

I'm finally rested from this weekend of insanity! Celebrate Fairfax was incredible! I've never done a show there so I was a complete tourist. They had so many things to see and do that I never even saw half of it! Plus, I was so tired after working from 6am - 10 pm every night in the blazing sun that I didn't even want to stay later (even though it ran through midnight!) In terms of jewelry, this show was a roller coaster ride! Friday we opened a preview for the government workers and it was slow but steady. Then we had a long 4 hour break. I couldn't leave my table so I just ended up sweating and sitting until 6 when the festival officially opened. Saturday went very smoothly and was our best day out of three and Sunday was breezy but that was welcome. So overall I'd give the show a 3 out of 5. Mainly because of the heat, and partly because of some tent mishaps in the beginning. (Murphy's law, I somehow always forget). Aside from that, this show was very entertaining and I met some very nice people along the way!

Celebrate Fairfax!

So with such an amazing show coming up, I just had to put a plug in for it. This Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is going to be an amazing event happening called Celebrate Fairfax! in Fairfax VA. There will be four stages of music, a carnival, over 400 vendors, and over 70,000 people and most important of all: An Artisan Marketplace! That's right, three wonderful days of discounted jewelry will be on sale at the Appus Design booth in on the corner of the United Bank Crafts Market! So if you are in the area, love jewelry, or are just plain curious, come check us out! We'll be open every day from 10 am - 9 except on Sunday we close at 5pm. It looks like great weather and Smashmouth and LIVE are just some of the performers this year! So check out their website for directions and more information ar www.celebratefairfax.org ! Plus as an incentive if you mention this feed, we'll take 20% off your total purchase. Hope to see you there!

Bubble Tea Set

A set! Rarely do I ever finish a complete set of jewelry, but here it is. Aptly named Bubble Tea for those sweet drinks at the mall with the cute tapioca drops at the bottom. The colors are professional yet wild, like a fire swallowing secretary. Or something along those lines! There are two types of designs within the set. The earrings are linear solid spokes of 20 gauge black wire, generously wrapped in baby blue freshwater pearls and sky blue swarovski crystals. The cuff is similar in design. The watch and the necklace use multiple strands filled with faceted fire polish black glass , freshwater pearls, and swarovski crystals to give the illusion that it floats about the wrist and neck. This has been a very popular design so I thought it should get some time in the spotlight. It is available as a custom order and comes in any color combination you can imagine! So e-mail me if you are interested in a set, or just a piece of this lovely collection!

Charmed

Charming! What is it about a loaded bracelet that just captures the attention? The Bailey's Locket bracelet comes from this seasons collection. This is one of my personal favorites, filled with faceted juicy grape candy jade briolletes and Biwi freshwater stick pearls. My inspiration for this bracelet came from the salty cool breeze that comes off the water. The colors seemed soft on the eye s and the pearls add a nostalgia for the ocean. It seemed like a wonderful bracelet to wear when your walking in the morning near the surf in bare feet. Ahhh, summer! I think all of my jewelry is and will always be inspired by the water in some way or another! Pisces influence? Who knows...and who cares.

New Jewelry

Finally, Summer has arrived! Finals are over and I'm back in the studio creating what I love: eye catching colorful jewelry! The website is just about up and running and has been restocked for what I hope will be a continuous, joyous work in progress. From now on, look forward to semi consistent updates through the summer and probably not so many depending on my schedule during the fall semester. I'm currently working on a collection of opulent earrings using pearls, faceted gemstones, and sterling silver which I hope to preview sometime in the next few weeks. It will be an exciting line of ear candy! Actually I'm so excited about it that here is a tiny tiny preview:

The rest will be up on my website and at my shows starting most likely in July along with a number of new designs for the summer!
