Back to Basics

Spent a ton of time on this dreary monday just brainstorming and sketching. I actually haven't just sat and sketched for a long time and I had forgotten how great it is for calming the mind. I had a great explosion of new ideas as well! I have some photos of what came out of all these sketches but I'll wait to show them at a later time :)

Update in photos!

Hello!  I've been away in GA visiting family :) Hope everyone is well! I never like trying to explain everything that has happened during my long absences from blogging ( which happen frequently ) so here is my update in photos!  In summary, I embraced turning 23, explored felted knitting, knitted some more, and did what I do best: jewelry design! Lets all have a productive week!

Productive day!

Today was another gorgeous day! Got out in the morning and went hiking and got nice and muddy. Then came back and aired out the whole house and baked some delicious dairy free oatmeal cookies.  Also did some funny recycling with some old socks. I made a cute collar for my little white kitty and a pair of cuffs for myself :) Also in business news, my website is almost finished! hooray! It's very simple, but at least it will be up.

You can visit it right now in it's unfinished state here:

The gallery is up with one set of photos so far. I hope to have more up tomorrow or the next day. Let's all enjoy this great weather the rest of the week!

Stamp Designs!

What a gorgeous day it was today! I finally got out for a nice long run instead of on the treadmill in the basement. What a difference that is! Today I also got a chance to sit down and design some new stamps for some of the new metal work I am doing. Here is a small sketch of one pattern I made inspired by ferns.  I then of course had to make a graphic design incorporating my logo. I'm so excited to use these!

After that, Kirk and I went to see the premier of the Bounty Hunter. It was cute. That's about all I'll say. But we did get to sit right behind the press and critics so that was pretty neat! They all were taking notes during the screening and there were two bouncers at the front door to make sure no one brought in recording devices.  It was a very fun experience if anything! So that was my day in a nutshell. Going hiking tomorrow and getting my Artscape application in perfect shape!

Maryland Spring Craft Show Recap

Thanks everyone who came out and supported me at Maryland Spring Craft this weekend! What a crazy 3 days it was! I managed to survive with the help of 4 alarm clocks, tons of coffee, and the friendliest neighboring vendors I've ever had!

The torrential downpours on friday and saturday didn't seem to scare anyone away, we were busy from opening hour onward. I was really excited to show some of my newest explorations in brass and sterling, and I was so happy that people were appreciative of my designs. I also had the pleasure of trading work with some other very talented artists.
So I ended the longest show I've done thus far on a very positive note: great exposure, wonderful new friends, and best of all a nice donation to Haiti Relief from our benefit pendants. It was a real great experience and I would love to participate again next year! I'll be taking a nice break to restock and finish applications for my upcoming summer shows. Lets all have a productive next week!

Shigoto Shigoto....

Shigoto ( 仕事 ) means "Work" in Japanese, and that is all I have been doing since about 6am! It's only the afternoon and I already feel like my eyes are puffy :( So I'm taking a break to show some photos of what I've been doing!

One of the greatest feelings is when a design from my brain goes from sketch to reality, so here is a fun before and after of just that!
1) dreaming sketches for the shape of the frame

2) After soldering a clean up

3) Ta Da! Finished piece! (sounds a lot faster and easier than it was...)

This piece is part of my spring collection and is handcrafted from start to finish in Sterling silver and hand pierced brass.

It's back to work!! Shigoto, Shigoto...

Spring is almost here!

So the weather here was superb today! Hopefully everyone got outside to enjoy the clear blue skies. I got out and took survey of my snow damaged yard and also  picked up a copy of Urban Garden magazine. I'm planning on creating some small vegetable gardens in the backyard this spring!

Today I also planned out some of the new ideas I had for my display at the next show up at Timonium Fairgrounds. I decided on some more natural looking fabrics and a new set of risers! Next weekends Maryland Home and Garden Spring Craft Show will be a fun one! There are going to be live indoor gardens  and a lot of awesome artisan work.

As for other news this is what I'm currently reading :
This is what I'm cooking:

this is what I'm knitting from :

Thanks Loch Raven!

Just wanted to pop in a say a huge THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people at the Loch Raven High show for putting on another fantastic event! It's always a pleasure to be able to come back and support my old high school. I also wanted to thank all of the people that stopped by to see me! It's truly my greatest joy to connect with my customers. You all are so wonderful and supportive of my work and I am so greatful :)

I hope you all enjoyed the show as much as I did! I will now leave you all with a disturbing fact : I have not slept in 32 hours, so I shall now retire into a much needed hibernation. My next show is at the Maryland Spring Home and Garden Show!  Hope to see you there!
