Update in Photos

Wow, so it's been a good while since I last posted, and you know me, I'm better at showing than telling, so here are a bunch of photos from the past few weeks:

spent some time at the outerbanks with Kirk's lovely family

our kitties exhausted from the 105 degree day a few weeks ago

pretty packages to be sent

a tiny tissue holder I sewed!

seeds started for the fall crop

Insane Japanese shishigatani (pumpkin) taking over the yard

Japanese Sun gold cherry tomatoes

These Japanese cucumbers grow longer than 2 feet!

A baby pumpkin peeking out

The flowers on the shishigatani are enormous and they bloom only in the earliest morning hours

Chicken fertilizer from our very own

A stray cucumber crowing on the bean vine

So the photos ended up being mostly about the garden, oh well. I will try to get a post up about Artscape in the future! Hope you all are doing fine and happy!

Garden Update: Carrots and tomatoes

Things have been getting busy around here again! Artscape is looming closer and closer and it's finally starting to feel real: I have so very much production work to finish!

We've been getting some nice sunny days recently and the garden has grown by leaps and bounds. Out of the 3 black skinned watermelon, 2 have set nicely as well as my two sanjaku (Japanese cucumbers). They are sending out little tendrils and climbing out of my raised bed.

I harvested a small section of carrots today that I planted back in April, they are more of a baby type organic carrot and are super sweet! I also for the first time have saved seed from an organic lettuce crop that went out a bit earlier than I had expected (last photo). I'm excited to try planting these seeds once more in a few days.

Hope you all are doing grand!

Update

new Marie rose earrings

Trying new photos, something I need to work on badly

Since Art in the Park,  my life has been fairly relaxing for once.  We went to Hon Fest this weekend and had a great time browsing through the wild and wacky atmosphere. Picked out some gifts for people and finally had a chance to pop into Trohv (formerly Red Tree) since it's name change.  I'm cleaning my studio, again, and I'm currently undertaking some much needed home improvements. I've also started very light planning for my second trip to Japan this Spring.

In other news, the chickens are growing tail feathers right now :) they are getting bigger by the hour it seems, and eating us out of house and home! As for the garden, the tomatoes are enormous and most of my Japanese vegetables are well on their way! I'm really excited for the shishigatani (Japanese pumpkin) and my expensive Hokkaido black skinned watermelon. I have beans growing all over the place, and my newest additions from the Farmers market are chocolate mint and rosemary (we had rosemary potatoes the other night, mmmmm!)

Viva Vienna! Recap

Wow! What an incredibly hot Memorial Day weekend it was! I'm back from Vienna and I can honestly say that I've never drank so much water in a 6 hour period before. However, it didn't seem like anyone was going to let some 99 degree temperatures get in their way, and Viva Vienna was a lively and wonderful show! I have to mention how pleasant and pretty Vienna was, we were constantly being amazed at the cleanliness, modernity, and progressiveness all around us.

We had a great two days of meeting amazing people, strolling through the town, and staying at the Wolf Trap Motel (which by the way, was also lodging a whole lot of Bikers who were doing a Memorial Day ride the next day :) vrooom!)  Viva Vienna was really a perfect show despite the heat!

So Thank you Vienna for hosting a most spectacular show! I look forward to coming back next year to see you all!

(p.s. Whenever I shoot photos of my booth at a show, I somehow always catch Kirk in at least one by accident, so I posted the latest one because it came out so unexpectedly wonderful!)

New Combinations: Idea to Reality

Morimiya the Huntress Necklace, a piece from my new Imperial Collection is making it's debut in the shop today! This is also part of my new combinations brought to life which I'm having a lot of fun with :)

Also, one more week until Viva Vienna! As part of the show, we'll be staying in VA for one night at this little motel called the Wolf Trap. I'm sort of really excited simply for the name of the place!

Update in Photos

Brand new bracelet design, both functional and pretty.

Each tile is formed to fit the curve of the wrist so it lays quite nicely.

Hooray! Rings like this one will soon be available in the shop!

Playing around with crystals and ribbon

Deliciously healthy teriyaki sweet potato stir fry last night

I've had my coffee, went for my run and the house is clean: it's feeling like a wonderful Saturday!
