Some photos from our trip to the home and garden show this weekend! Got an early birthday gift in the form of a little evergreen from Celestial Bonsai! I won't be naming it this time around. (Mr. Tree was my last attempt at bonsai raising. May he RIP).

Fresh fresh fresh
Even though I hate the heat, you really can't beat Summer foods :) fresh corn on the cob and juicy watermelon! And for tomorrow a romaine salad with fresh-from-the-garden cucumbers. I haven't figured out what to do with all of the cucumbers I get actually: salads, dip, raw? What do you like to make with them?

First of the year
Beans! Some of the best I've grown thus far too! I think I'm going to use them in a tempura dish tomorrow night. There are also flowers on the cucumber plant so just a bit longer to wait! I love garden fresh food :)

After the rain
It's a cleaning day today! I guess you could call it an airing out day as well, the rain brought a nice clear breeze this morning so I'm letting it cleanse the indoor air. The rain also brought new growth to my little cucumber and bean plants!
I was up really late last night so I'm trying to cleanse my mind and body today as well: morning yoga and clean eating ending today with an early bedtime. Or so I hope :)

Growing Fast!
Wow! Must be the steam from the sink because the lettuce and flowers I planted just 3 days ago have sprouted! It was supposed to take 7 -14 days, hope they are what I planted... It's been so lovely out that I set these little pots outdoors to soak up some rays. Also, went for my birthday lunch with my favorite New Yorker, Jen and she got me the cutest little chickie timer! I'm going to bake some chicken cookies tonight just so I can use this little guy. Love it!
I'll leave you with a photo of my soon-to-be business center. This is the before shot, it looks drastically different right now so I'll try and post an "After" shot later!
so cluttered and colorless! blaaa! but not for long!

Tangerine Tango!
According to Pantone, the color of Spring 2012 is Tangerine Tango. I decided to make myself a little set using this years "in" color. I ended up loving the necklace design so I'll be introducing the little triangles necklace into my normal collection! It's just so dainty and has such great movement.
It's also been abnormally warm for March, so I planted some lettuce in the kitchen and some hardy green beans out in the container garden yesterday. We'll see how they grow this early in the year.
I'm cleaning the studio AGAIN. That's about all for today!

working working working
Camera is not around for today so I'll post photos later :) I've been so busy working on new designs and perfecting my setup that the days just kind of flew by! Things are *gasp* going smoothly and on time. (knocks on wood) I have my show line up pretty much set through April and I'll post that as well next time. My focus this year is on designs that are more versatile both in color and function, I think you will like some of the new additions I've added!
As for other news, it's very random so I'll just list things:
- I'm sticking to my resolutions of eating healthier and not procrastinating as much.woo hoo!
- The Chickens are healthy and happily living outside
- Planning 2 more raised vegetable garden designs for the spring
- Booked a super modern hotel for our 11 year anniversary getaway!!! (so excited for this place)
- Knitting a Noro sweater for my kitty
- Confession, started watching Supernatural again since it just came to Netflix, which means I haven't been sleeping well because I'm so afraid! (I don't know why I keep watching!)
- Been shopping around for a shiny new backyard fence that will go up hopefully at the end of the summer.
that's all for now! Back to work xoxo

Update in Photos
Wow, so it's been a good while since I last posted, and you know me, I'm better at showing than telling, so here are a bunch of photos from the past few weeks:
spent some time at the outerbanks with Kirk's lovely family
our kitties exhausted from the 105 degree day a few weeks ago
pretty packages to be sent
a tiny tissue holder I sewed!
seeds started for the fall crop
Insane Japanese shishigatani (pumpkin) taking over the yard
Japanese Sun gold cherry tomatoes
These Japanese cucumbers grow longer than 2 feet!
A baby pumpkin peeking out
The flowers on the shishigatani are enormous and they bloom only in the earliest morning hours
Chicken fertilizer from our very own
A stray cucumber crowing on the bean vine
So the photos ended up being mostly about the garden, oh well. I will try to get a post up about Artscape in the future! Hope you all are doing fine and happy!

Garden Update: Carrots and tomatoes
Things have been getting busy around here again! Artscape is looming closer and closer and it's finally starting to feel real: I have so very much production work to finish!
We've been getting some nice sunny days recently and the garden has grown by leaps and bounds. Out of the 3 black skinned watermelon, 2 have set nicely as well as my two sanjaku (Japanese cucumbers). They are sending out little tendrils and climbing out of my raised bed.
I harvested a small section of carrots today that I planted back in April, they are more of a baby type organic carrot and are super sweet! I also for the first time have saved seed from an organic lettuce crop that went out a bit earlier than I had expected (last photo). I'm excited to try planting these seeds once more in a few days.
Hope you all are doing grand!

Update
new Marie rose earrings
Trying new photos, something I need to work on badly
Since Art in the Park, my life has been fairly relaxing for once. We went to Hon Fest this weekend and had a great time browsing through the wild and wacky atmosphere. Picked out some gifts for people and finally had a chance to pop into Trohv (formerly Red Tree) since it's name change. I'm cleaning my studio, again, and I'm currently undertaking some much needed home improvements. I've also started very light planning for my second trip to Japan this Spring.
In other news, the chickens are growing tail feathers right now :) they are getting bigger by the hour it seems, and eating us out of house and home! As for the garden, the tomatoes are enormous and most of my Japanese vegetables are well on their way! I'm really excited for the shishigatani (Japanese pumpkin) and my expensive Hokkaido black skinned watermelon. I have beans growing all over the place, and my newest additions from the Farmers market are chocolate mint and rosemary (we had rosemary potatoes the other night, mmmmm!)
