Mmmmmmm!

Made some banana bread from those mushy bananas that were on the counter! I'm sort of surprised at how well it came out :) here is the recipe I followed if you wish to make some as well : http://allrecipes.com/recipe/banana-banana-bread/

Working on orders and new displays today. Happy Monday!

Photo Update

Finally finished the second pair of the vine earrings. I'd been sketching these babies for about a month and never even attempted to make them. Lots of trial and error and here they are!

Look who grew a lot bigger! Also, the mystery is solved: the middle plants ARE morning glories! Who knew? :)

...Ta da! Here is a middle photo of the business nook transformation. It's coming along nicely, remember how terrible it looked before? Just a bit more elbow grease and it should be finished.

and actually, I sort of tore up my whole studio and had an extreme home makeover moment. I'm super happy with how it is turning out. I was subsisting on coffee and bananas that week and just wanted to move some furniture. I'll have to post some photos after the dust settles. It's looks verrrry different than before. In a good way.

I thought these chains were pretty.

Plus, Loch Raven was a wonderful show like always! After coming off the 5 day Home and Garden show I appreciate the one day shows immensely more. It was lovely to see you all and I even had some surprise visitors too! You know who you are :) Thank you all so much for making last weekend a blast!

Ooo one last note: I got a Swiffer for my birthday from my Mom and I'm so excited to Swif today! (and make banana bread from these really old bananas that have been on the counter!)

Update - House to Home

Today is one of those wonderful days where everything you have on your list gets done. It's a great feeling! I even fit in my run earlier than I thought and now I have a bit of free time. Aside from creating overstock for the gallery, Kirk and I have been doing some home facelifts. One was an entranceway re-do which included a new coat of paint. I was touching up a few spots today and I realized  that the paint hadn't been mixed properly and now there are all of these lighter patches all over the wall... I guess I need to do a facelift to the facelift now :)

Also as an early Christmas present to myself I purchased a lovely new rug from Anthropologie and some pretty new fabrics from Palladium so I guess this winter break I'll be busy making our house a home! It's also time for Holiday baking fairly soon and I'm looking forward to trying out some new recipes. What is your favorite holiday tradition??

Halloween Treats!

This cake is spooktacular!
WOW I saw these incredible treats on Martha Stewart's website today and they are nothing short of amazing!

(images from marthastewart.com)

These bones are edible! Wouldn't they be the perfect Halloween party sweet? And with only two ingredients, these are pretty sweet for your wallet as well :)

  • YieldMakes about 18

Ingredients:

6 Large egg whites
1 1/2 Cups sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Put egg whites and sugar in the heatproof bowl of an electric mixer. Set bowl over a pan of simmering water; whisk constantly until sugar is dissolved and mixture feels warm to the touch, about 5 minutes.
  2. Return bowl to mixer, and fit mixer with the whisk attachment. Beat on high speed until very stiff peaks form, about 8 minutes.
  3. Transfer meringue to a pastry bag fitted with a 1/2-inch plain round tip, such as a Wilton #1A. Pipe bone shapes, each 5 to 6 inches long, onto two baking sheets lined with parchment paper (as shown below). Bake until crisp throughout, about 1 hour. Let cool completely on a wire rack.

Look what I found!

So last night I jetted off to try and find some more pieces for my new Spring display. I sadly could only find one piece that I was happy with but I also picked up these adorable mini bread pans! So of course this morning I was so excited to use them that I promptly made some fresh blueberry mini breads!! They are too adorable for words, and now the whole house smells like blueberries! Ahh Saturday. Now I'm off to begin some new pendants and earrings for the upcoming shows!
