Today's photos are a study of disorganization and new work. My tiny studio is very cramped at the moment. It's times like these that I say to myself, " why didn't I buy those ikea shelving units?? "
The floor is of utmost importance to me. No matter how many tables I may have, the floor is where I end up and where my work spreads out. The closer a show deadline creeps up, the less floor space there seems to be. So at this current time: 21 hours until setup, I have about 1 sq foot of floor space left :)

Fall Colors
When standing alone, a pattern is just a pattern. A spot of red, a drop of blue, a single word from a poem. But combine them and they sing songs, they tell stories. An ebb and flow of color and feeling.
When I design, I'm always striving for a feeling of continuity despite the myriad of colors and patterns I use.
This Fall is a visual story spoken through stone grays, muted coral, and burnt orange. When spun together, they speak of warm sunshine moments and cozy indoor nights, an apple orchard and pumpkin spice. A pause before the bite of winter.

New in the Shop
As requested by so many people, I've finally made the mini version of my signature 3 flower necklace available in the shop! I'll be listing the blue version soon as well. This dainty version is a great everyday piece while still remaining delightfully eye-catching. You can check it out here!
It's a big blue sky kind of day and I actually have some time to enjoy it, although if I were smart I'd probably use this time to begin my Fall studio cleaning...
Go outside and enjoy this beautiful weather!

Goodbye Summer
Wow, Fall is fast approaching and with it comes Fall shows! I'm branching out a bit this year and trying some brand new venues. One in particular is right close by in Mt. Washington and another one in Fells Point. With new shows it's always a gamble it seems (I guess I've had more bad experiences than good involving never-been-done-before shows). However, over the years I have found some real gems by doing just that: trying it out. So Here is to a Fall of new hopes and hopefully great luck :)

Cozy Things
For some reason I was so cold today! Bundled in far too many layers for an October Tuesday, my mind of course started thinking about knitting. Since getting back with my new yarns from Philly, I've been carefully thinking of what to make from their expensive greatness. I decided it has to be something intricate because I just don't feel right using a $20 hand-dyed skein for a scarf. I'm thinking these lovely leg warmers might fit the bill.
Then I saw a photo of a hot water bottle and thought: now that's something I don't think of very much! (actually ever) but now I am. Ever since I found this crazy beautiful cabled hot water bottle cozy I can't stop thinking about them! I must make one this winter.
Lastly, the coziest thing I can think of when I'm cold, is of course the Kotatsu. The Japanese really have something good going on. To all who are unfamiliar, Kotatsu is basically a heater beneath a table covered in a futon that traps all that glorious warmth. I make a similar style in the winter and it is the greatest thing to just relax and watch tv while drinking hot tea or chocolate with your friends!
Hoping tomorrow is not quite so chilly!
(but if it is I can always make kotatsu)

New Collection!

Here are just a few of the new things I've been working on! I'm fleshing out a fancy pearl collection using inset crystals and keishi blossom pearls. I have also been working on a collection of simple japanese designs and lines in brass and silver. Here is the unfinished cherry twig pendant and earrings. I've been reading about the Japanese Tea Ceremony which has fueled my imagination for this collection.
To see the full collection come to the Annual Fall Home Show 2009 on Sunday November 9th! from 11am - 4pm.

Fall Designs
Copper Gold and Silver! I'm busily working away at the Fall Collection. Custom orders are available to pre- order before the unveiling! I've been working in Copper lately, it has such a lovely earthen feel to it, I look forward to creating a number of rings in this metal! Hooray for Fall!
